Double end studs (clamping type) where both ends are of the same thread series (UNRC or 8UN). Also called bolt-studs. (These are suitable for mating with nuts or the set end may be installed with anaerobic thread locking compound.)

Double end studs (interference thread type) with the nut end having UNRC or 8UNR series thread and where the tap end has NC 5 HFS interference fit thread forms. Also called a tap end stud.

The Ship Systems Technical Committee develops and maintains SAE Standards, Recommended Practices and Information Reports for the development, production, application and testing of ship systems and equipment, focusing on fluid power systems and fasteners. Other systems and equipment are covered as long as they are not the responsibility of another technical committee. The committee's activities and documents do not apply to personal watercraft recreational vehicles. The subcommittees formed under the committee's direction include: SC1, Fluid Systems and Components SC2, Fasteners SC3, System Cleanliness and Filters Participants in the SAE Ship Systems Technical Committee include OEMs, suppliers, consulting firms, government and other interested parties.
