Scope
This SAE Information Report provides information applicable to production Original Equipment Manufacturer antilock braking systems found on some past and current passenger cars and light trucks. It is intended for readers with a technical background.
It does not include information about aftermarket devices or future antilock brake systems.
Information in this document reflects that which was available to the committee at the time of publication.
Rationale
This technical report is being stabilized because it covers technology, products, or processes which have become outdated by technical evolution in hardware, testing methods and vehicle electrical architectures. The technical terms and definitions in the technical report are not likely to change in the foreseeable future.

Vehicle Performance Steering Committee
The Vehicle Performance Steering Committee is an oversight committee reporting to the SAE Motor Vehicle Council. The Steering Committee oversees four technical committees related to vehicle dynamics and performance. The steering committee has the authority to establish appropirate committees to develop and maintain technical reports and to discharge committees when assignments are completed.
