Scope
This SAE Standard defines dimensional characteristics of existing flat blades of multipole connectors and specific requirements for on-board electrical harnesses of road vehicles.
This document applies to connectors designed to be disconnected after mounting in the vehicle in the case of repair and/or maintenance only.

The scope of the Electrical Distribution Systems Steering Committee includes the development and maintenance of standards and recommended practices for automotive power and signal distribution systems used in passenger cars and light duty trucks. The scope includes standards for wiring systems, connection systems, cable, and harness coverings. Standards are developed for all voltage ratings up to but not including ignition cable assemblies and components. The scope does not include circuit protection or switching devices.
