Scope
This SAE Recommended Practice provides a road test procedure for trucks, truck-tractors, and buses to evaluate their compliance with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) 105 and 121; Hydraulic and Air Brake Systems. Units of measure are English in lieu of metric to be commensurate with FMVSS 105 and 121.

The Truck and Bus Brake Systems Committee of the Truck and Bus Brake and Stability Control Steering Committee is responsible for developing, reviewing, and approving recommended practices, standards, and information reports related to brake systems of trucks, tractor-trailer combinations and buses over 10,000 lbs (4500 Kg) GVWR designed primarily for highway use.
