Scope
This SAE Recommended Practice has been formulated to advance and endorse the use of the ISO (International Organization for Standardization) Solid Contaminant Code as the universal means for expressing the level of particulate contaminant in hydraulic fluid and for specifying acceptable limits of cleanliness. Worldwide approval was gained for this coding system because it provides a simple, unmistakable, meaningful, and consistent means of communication between suppliers and users. The code applies to all types of hydraulic (liquid) fluids used in fluid power and control systems.

Issuing Committee
CTTC1 addresses standards related to specification on the test procedures, cleanliness, and leakage classification to enhance performance characteristics of Hydraulic system components, used on off-road work machinery. The goal is to enhance improvement on standards, by having liaison activities with other hydraulic groups as deemed necessary. This committee reports to ConAg Council through CTTC

* Redlines comparisons are available for those standards
listed in the Revision History that contain a radio button. A
redline comparison of the current version against a revision is
accomplished by selecting the radio button next to the standard and
then selecting 'compare'. At this time, Redline versions only exist
for some AMS standards. SAE will continue to add redline versioning
with ongoing updates to SAE MOBILUS.
