Scope
This specification covers a titanium alloy in the form of seamless tubing.
Rationale
AMS4944L deletes AS6279 that does not apply to hydraulic tubing. AMS4944K resulted from an update of this specification and included a reduction in hydrogen content and removal of an increased sample weight allowance (Table 1), use of vacuum in the first consumable melting (3.2), use of vacuum/inert gas furnaces (3.3.2), revision of tubing size in tolerance Table 4, included the addition of AS6279 (3.7) (now deleted), reduced flarability sampling (4.3.3) and revised reporting (4.5).

Issuing Committee
AMS G Titanium and Refractory Metals Committee
The committee of Titanium, Beryllium, and Refractory Materials, AMS Committee G, is responsible for preparation, revision, review and approval of documents related to aerospace application of these materials. Included are titanium, beryllium, and refractory metallic such as molybdenum, tantalum, and columbium. The committee provides a forum for interchange of experience and ideas among industry representatives, both suppliers and users, along with interested government agencies, to ensure the utility, proper technical content, and industry acceptance of published documents.

* Redlines comparisons are available for those standards listed in the Revision History that contain a radio button. A redline comparison of the current version against a revision is accomplished by selecting the radio button next to the standard and then selecting 'compare'. At this time, Redline versions only exist for some AMS standards. SAE will continue to add redline versioning with ongoing updates to SAE MOBILUS.
