This specification covers established manufacturing tolerances applicable to aluminum alloy and magnesium alloy extruded bar, rod, wire, shapes, and tubing ordered to inch/pound dimensions. Tolerances greater than standard may be necessary for some shapes; tolerances closer than standard may be possible for others. Tolerances shown herein, however, apply unless otherwise agreed upon by purchaser and vendor and apply to all tempers, unless otherwise noted. The term "excl" is used to apply only to the higher figure of the specified range. The general temper designations "-TX510" and "-TX511" are used for brevity and denote the full temper designations -T3510, -T4510, -T6510, -T8510, -T73510, -T76510, -T3511, -T4511, -T6511, -T8511, -T73511, and -T76511, the "X" representing one or more digits preceding the "510" or "511".
The committee of Nonferrous Alloys, AMS Committee D, shall prepare, coordinate, and revise documents related to nonferrous metals technology, such as aluminum, magnesium, and copper, through the participation of metals suppliers, users, and interested government agencies. Committee activities shall provide a forum for the cooperative interchange of ideas and experience of the participants, resulting in the publication of specifications that embody sound, established aerospace industry practices and requirements to serve the suppliers and customers of aerospace materials.

Wild Cards

Using the question mark, ( ? ) allows you to search for a word with a single character wildcard. For example, searching for t?re would match both tire and tyre
Using Quotes
Words in double quotes " " are treated as a phrase. Conducting a search for "heat model" will return all results in which the exact phrase "heat model" is found, while "heat modeling" would NOT be included.
A term combined with a phrase will be joined with an OR operator.

When searching for a standard please use the entire Document Number assigned, which includes the abbreviation. A space can be used, or omitted between the abbreviation and number.
