Scope
This SAE Aerospace Information Report (AIR) presents data on normally accepted changes in physical properties and contamination levels for MIL-PRF-5606, MIL-PRF-83282, and MIL-PRF-87257 hydraulic fluids used in hydraulic test stands. This information is of importance to all users of hydraulic test stands to assure the performance data obtained on these test stands for specific components will not be adversely affected by excessive changes in fluid properties or contamination levels.
Rationale
This document has been revised to correct references to obsolete test methods, update references to specifications, and to correct technical errors in Table 2. In addition, some editorial improvements have been made.

Issuing Committee
A-6C1 Fluids and Contamination Control Committee
A6C1 is responsible for the development of standards, processes, and practices related to Aerospace Fluids and Systems' cleanliness in aerospace engines, hydraulic systems and missiles, and the integration of these components for Commercial and Military air vehicles. The panel provides a forum for government engineers, prime contractors, and suppliers to exchange technical information, regulatory updates, recent technology developments, issues related to system development and in service operation and lessons learned.

* Redlines comparisons are available for those standards
listed in the Revision History that contain a radio button. A
redline comparison of the current version against a revision is
accomplished by selecting the radio button next to the standard and
then selecting 'compare'. At this time, Redline versions only exist
for some AMS standards. SAE will continue to add redline versioning
with ongoing updates to SAE MOBILUS.
