Scope
This document lists those guidelines recognized as being essential for consideration by the designer who is preparing to select an elastomer as part of an aerospace design.
Rationale
This document has been revised to include current reference publications and a more thorough discussion of creep, stress relaxation and permanent set as these phenomena relate to sealing with elastomers.

Issuing Committee
Welcome to the AMS-CE Elastomers Committee Discussion Forum.
The AMS-CE Elastomers Committee maintains Aerospace Materials Specifications (AMS), Aerospace Recommended Practices (ARP), Aerospace Information Reports (AIR) and Aerospace Standards (AS) on elastomeric materials. AMS-CE, which reports to the Aerospace Materials Division, coordinates and maintains liaison with industry, government and other standardization groups on elastomeric materials. A significant part of this committee is concerned with elastomeric fluid sealing materials, their applications, material development, testing, quality, design parameters and design practices. * Redlines comparisons are available for those standards
listed in the Revision History that contain a radio button. A
redline comparison of the current version against a revision is
accomplished by selecting the radio button next to the standard and
then selecting 'compare'. At this time, Redline versions only exist
for some AMS standards. SAE will continue to add redline versioning
with ongoing updates to SAE MOBILUS.
