Space station freedom presents many opportunities and challenges for systems engineering to support manned space flight. Two major challenges include the development of hardware sustaining the day to day activities of human life and the fabrication of a new generation thermal control system. SP-875 provides the most current environmental control and life support system (ECLSS) and thermal control system (TCS) technology. Partial contents include: integrated energy balance analysis for space station freedom; high conductance thermal interface concept for space applications; recommended space station radiator orientation profile; space station freedom environmental database system (FEDS) for MSFC testing; system sterilization for space station environmental control and life support system, water recovery test; and shower water recovery by UF/RO.
