The South Korean Automotive Supplier Report features a comprehensive overview of the automotive industry in South Korea, including a macro-economic overview, government policy and planned investment by OEMs and suppliers. Today, South Korea is a major manufacturer and exporter of automobiles and ranks 5th in the world, behind China, USA, Japan and Germany. In 2013, South Korea produced 4.5 million vehicles, a decline of 0.9% from the previous year, the first drop in production since 2007. In 2014, vehicle production was just positive, with an increase of 0.1%. Over the last five years, South Korea has developed into a major exporter of vehicles, exporting roughly two-thirds of its total production annually. South Korea’s proximity to China and the ASEAN markets means that export opportunities, for both vehicles and components, continue to increase.
