Scope
This SAE Recommended Practice provides minimum performance requirements and accompanying uniform laboratory test procedures for evaluating certain essential characteristics of new tires and newly retreaded tires intended for use on passenger cars.

To plan and execute a cooperative tire test development program, to evaluate the fatigue endurance performance of light duty highway tires. Activities will include empirical comparisons of tire performance on the various, proposed tests, together with evaluating reasonable relationships to tire usage and durability performance on the highway.
