This coding system is intended to provide a convenient means of identifying the various tube, pipe, hydraulic hose type and hose fittings, not intended for use in aircraft, and of transmitting technical or engineering information relating to them wherever drawings or other pictorial media may not be readily available. The code has been kept flexible to permit expansion to cover new fitting categories or styles and, if the need develops, the inclusion of materials. The system is also compatible with automatic data processing equipment.
It is not intended that this code should supersede established systems or means of identification. However, because the SAE code for automotive flare fittings shown in SAE J512 is also applicable to corresponding refrigeration fittings in SAE J513, both an SAE code and the existing code ANSI B70.1 are included throughout SAE J513. Therefore, it should be the prerogative of the user to apply that code which best satisfies his requirements.
The Fluid Conductors and Connectors Tech Steering Committee (FCCTC) develops and maintains SAE Standards, Recommended Practices and Information Reports relating to the area of fluid conductors and connectors including hose, hose assemblies, tubing and fittings for various functions in Land-Sea Vehicular applications. Subject areas addressed include coding, identification, dimensional, performance, and procurement requirements, quality, shipping, storage, and testing methods. An interface is maintained with other SAE committees, such as the automotive, truck, heavy equipment, marine and construction vehicle applications areas as well as other technical societies, international standards organizations, and governmental agencies to provide standardization. The committees formed under the committee's direction include: C1-Hydraulic Tube Fittings Committee C2- Hydraulic Hose and Hose Fittings Committee C5-Metallic Tubing Committee Participants in the SAE FCCTC include OEMs, suppliers, consulting firms, government and other interested parties.

Words in double quotes " " are treated as a phrase. Conducting a search for "heat model" will return all results in which the exact phrase "heat model" is found, while "heat modeling" would NOT be included.

When searching for a standard please use the entire Document Number assigned, which includes the abbreviation. A space can be used, or omitted between the abbreviation and number.
