Diesel Fuel Injector Assembly - Flange Mounted Types 5 and 6
- Ground Vehicle Standard
This SAE Standard specifies the dimensional requirements necessary for the mounting and interchangeability of two types of fuel injectors in diesel engines.
The location and dimensions of the fuel inlet, leak-off connections, and flange design are not defined since they may vary according to the particular application.
Field of Application This document is applicable to nozzle holder types 5 and 6 of a flange mounted design with a 21.0 mm (nominal) shank diameter used with size
S nozzles specified in ISO 2697. The internal construction of the fuel injector remains optional with the manufacturer.
Data Sets - Support Documents
The Diesel Fuel Injection Equipment Standards Committee reports to the Powertrain Systems Group of the Motor Vehicle Council. The Committee is responsible for developing and maintaining SAE Standards, Recommended Practices, and Information Reports related to the design, manufacture, use and servicing of diesel fuel injection equipment. These documents are developed in harmony with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). The committee serves as the U.S. delegate to ISO/TC22/SC7 - Road Vehicles, Injection Equipment and Filters. Participants in the SAE Diesel Fuel Injection Equipment Standards Committee include OEMs, suppliers, consulting firms, government, and other interested parties.
