Issuing Committee
The Circuit Protection Task Force is responsible for the development of US standards related to circuit protection devices utilized on ground vehicles. They also strive towards standardization of test procedures and interfaces as well as recommendations for new product characteristics harmonized to an international level. As the committee name (Circuit Protection) implies, the task force considers document requirements for components or devices that are employed as protective units in ground vehicle electrical systems. Common devices could include, but are not limited to: fuses, circuit breakers, safety disconnects, solid-state protective components (e.g., PTCs, FETs, etc.), and other items whose function is readily defined as circuit protection. The task force is responsible for the assigned documents identified by the Motor Vehicle Council as part of the circuit protection responsibility. Task force activity involves not only existing electrical system components (32VDC and below), but emerging technology protection devices as well (e.g., 42V electrical system related). The Circuit Protection Task Force functions under the auspices of the Circuit Protection & Switching Devices Standards Committee.
