Scope
This SAE Recommended Practice covers a high-strength corrosion-resisting steel wire, uniform in mechanical properties, intended for the manufacture of springs and wire forms. It covers processing requirements of springs and forms fabricated from this wire.

The Spring Committee develops and maintains SAE Standards, Recommended Practices, Information Reports and appropriate manuals relating to the design and application of the various types of springs used in automotive applications. The subcommittees formed under the committee's direction include: Coil Spring Leaf Spring Pneumatic Spring Torsion Bar Spring and Stabilizer Bars Participants in the SAE Spring Committee include OEMs, suppliers, consulting firms, government and other interested parties.
