Scope
This document covers two types of hose fabricated from fabric braid and synthetic rubber, assembled with end fittings for use in automotive power steering applications as flexible connections within the temperature range of -40 °C to +120 °C (-40 °F to +250 °F) average, and 135 °C (275 °F) maximum peaks.
These hoses are intended for use in applications where reduction in amplitude of pump pressure pulsations is required.
Type 1 hose shall be suitable for 10.3 MPa (1500 psi) maximum working pressure.
Type 2 hose shall be suitable for 10.3 MPa (1500 psi) maximum working pressure.
Rationale
This document has been determined to contain basic and stable technology which is not dynamic in nature.

Automotive Brake and Steering Hose Standards Comm
Provide and maintain uniform standards, recommended practices, and information reports to reflect changing needs while maximizing the safety and performance of Hydraulic Brake, Vacuum Brake, and Power Steering Hose and Hose Assemblies. This shall be done in a manner that will encourage productivity and cost containment while facilitating the ever-expanding global interchange and market.

* Redlines comparisons are available for those standards
listed in the Revision History that contain a radio button. A
redline comparison of the current version against a revision is
accomplished by selecting the radio button next to the standard and
then selecting 'compare'. At this time, Redline versions only exist
for some AMS standards. SAE will continue to add redline versioning
with ongoing updates to SAE MOBILUS.
