This SAE Recommended Practice was developed to provide a common understanding and usage of the technical terms useful in fuel injection systems for spark ignition engines. Additional nomenclature related to specific components is covered in the individual component sections.
Rationale
This document has been cancelled as the Committee has recently adoped a strategy of putting all relevant definitions from J1541 into the Nomenclature section of each new document that is developed. This is also being applied to the five year update revision for existing documents under the Gasoline Fuel Injection Standards Committee. The Committee believed that this in an improved strategy and better serves the document purchaser.
The Gasoline Fuel Injection Standards Committee reports to the Powertrain Systems Group of the Motor Vehicle Council. The Committee is responsible for developing and maintaining SAE Standards, Recommended Practice documents and Information reports that apply to automotive gasoline fuel injection systems. This includes the design and testing of any associated fuel system component parts and assemblies for both mechanical and electronic fuel injection systems that are utilized in spark ignition engines. Areas that are not encompassed include diesel injection systems and system control strategies. The SAE Gasoline Fuel Injection Standards Committee is comprised of members who represent injector manufacturers, automotive OEMs, automotive suppliers, consulting firms, associated government agencies, the national laboratories and other interested parties.

for some AMS standards. SAE will continue to add redline versioning
with ongoing updates to SAE MOBILUS.

SAE MOBILUS supports the use of the AND, OR and NOT BOOLEAN operators ONLY function with the Advanced Search.
Wild Cards
Using the asterisk, ( * ) allows you to search for a partial word. For example, entering a keyword search of aero* will search for any word beginning with aero.
Using the question mark, ( ? ) allows you to search for a word with a single character wildcard. For example, searching for t?re would match both tire and tyre
Using Quotes
Words in double quotes " " are treated as a phrase. Conducting a search for "heat model" will return all results in which the exact phrase "heat model" is found, while "heat modeling" would NOT be included.
A term combined with a phrase will be joined with an OR operator.
Searching for Standards
When searching for a standard please use the entire Document Number assigned, which includes the abbreviation. A space can be used, or omitted between the abbreviation and number.
