Scope
This SAE Recommended Practice describes test procedures for evaluating hardware used in motor vehicle seat belt assemblies. Related hardware performance requirements are described in SAE J141.
Test procedures and performance requirements for retractors will be covered in separate SAE Recommended Practices to be issued later.

SCOPE: Provide a forum for volunteer experts in the field of safety belts to assist in the review and update of current SAE safety belt standards applicable to new passenger cars and multipurpose passenger vehicles and light duty trucks. SHORT TERM OBJECTIVES: 1. Identify SAE safety belt standards that require revision; 2. Establish extent of revision (low, medium, high); 3. Prioritize and establish timeframe for completion. LONG TERM OBJECTIVES: Identify and create new SAE safety belt standards
