This Aerospace Standard covers four basic types of direct reading pressure actuated rate of climb (vertical speed) indicators as follows:

Type I - Range 0-2000 feet per minute climb and descent

The A-4 Committee is responsible for mechanical, electromechanical and electronic cockpit instrumentation standards applicable to all civil aircraft, with emphasis on minimum performance standards intended for reference in the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Technical Standard Orders (TSO).
