Scope
The scope of this standard is to define the following dimensional requirements for double hexagon, hexagon head and tee headed bolts, and nuts having a minimum tensile strength ranging up to 220 ksi, unless otherwise specified.
-
a
Head dimensions (see 3.1)
-
b
Shank dimensions (see 3.2)
-
c
Geometric control (see 3.3)
-
d
Surface texture (see 3.4)
-
e
Dimensions for nuts (see Section 4)
For design calculations the AS8879 coarse threads, UNJC, shall be used for 0.1640 thread sizes and smaller, and for larger thread sizes use fine threads, UNJF.
For particulars of thread runout and lead threads for bolts, see AS3062.

E-25 General Standards for Aerospace and Propulsion Systems
The SAE E-25 General Standards for Aerospace & Propulsion Systems committee addresses aerospace propulsion systems and components. These systems and components include bolts, screws, nuts, washers, studs, rivets, pins, covers, O-rings, brackets, plugs and associated procurement requirements, as well as solid film lubricants and design specifications for screw threads and fastener assembly requirements.

* Redlines comparisons are available for those standards
listed in the Revision History that contain a radio button. A
redline comparison of the current version against a revision is
accomplished by selecting the radio button next to the standard and
then selecting 'compare'. At this time, Redline versions only exist
for some AMS standards. SAE will continue to add redline versioning
with ongoing updates to SAE MOBILUS.
