This procedure describes a gravimetric method for the determination of particulate contaminant in hydraulic fluids by the control filter technique. With this method detectable contamination levels down to 0.2 mg per sample can be obtained with a standard deviation of ± 0.1 mg.

A-6C1 Fluids and Contamination Control Committee
A6C1 is responsible for the development of standards, processes, and practices related to Aerospace Fluids and Systems' cleanliness in aerospace engines, hydraulic systems and missiles, and the integration of these components for Commercial and Military air vehicles. The panel provides a forum for government engineers, prime contractors, and suppliers to exchange technical information, regulatory updates, recent technology developments, issues related to system development and in service operation and lessons learned.
