Scope
This specification covers premium quality bolts and screws made from a low-alloy, heat-resistant steel and having threads of UNJ (MIL-S-8879) form.
Rationale
This document is stabilized for use only in non-aerospace applications. FAA Advisory Notice 20-127 considers bolts made from H11 material to be unsafe for aircraft use and instructs that if used they should be replaced with a different material.

The SAE E-25 General Standards for Aerospace & Propulsion Systems committee addresses aerospace propulsion systems and components. These systems and components include bolts, screws, nuts, washers, studs, rivets, pins, covers, O-rings, brackets, plugs and associated procurement requirements, as well as solid film lubricants and design specifications for screw threads and fastener assembly requirements.
