Scope
This SAE Aerospace Information Report (AIR) discusses the terminology, types, method of manufacture and chemistry of the fine wire meshes used for filtration of hydraulic, lubrication fuel systems, and similar applications. Information contained herein may be used for quality assurance testing to insure that a high performance filter grade wire mesh is acceptable for use in an aerospace application.
Rationale
This document has been determined to contain basic and stable technology which is not dynamic in nature. It covers a description of woven filter meshes which have not changed in many years.

A6C1 is responsible for the development of standards, processes, and practices related to Aerospace Fluids and Systems' cleanliness in aerospace engines, hydraulic systems and missiles, and the integration of these components for Commercial and Military air vehicles. The panel provides a forum for government engineers, prime contractors, and suppliers to exchange technical information, regulatory updates, recent technology developments, issues related to system development and in service operation and lessons learned.
