Scope
The scope of this SAE Aerospace Information Report includes practical applications, theory, process management, audit and control recommendations, recommended validation intervals, verification and validation, file setup parameters, additional considerations, and process documentation.
Rationale
Modern hard bearing balancing machines employ computer-based measuring units that permit optimizing and adjusting the measuring result to reflect unusual conditions that would otherwise complicate measurement results and impair the balancing process. Hard bearing balancing machines feature a “permanent calibration” that is suited for a wide variety of common rotor configurations. However, certain rotor balancing configurations operating under challenging conditions require special compensation to achieve unbalance tolerances as quickly and as accurately as possible. The purpose of this report is to inform and instruct the reader in the proper application and use of unique adjustments to obtain accurate measurement results as quickly as possible.

Issuing Committee
The SAE EG-1A Balancing committee concerns itself with all balancing methods and procedures as they relate to the interests of the aerospace industry. The group’s scope includes creating, preparing and, maintaining all relevant specifications, recommended practices, standards and, requirements for rotor balance measurement, evaluation and, correction. The SAE EG-1A committee includes OEMs, suppliers, processors, consulting firms, government, academia and others throughout both the commercial and military aerospace industries.

* Redlines comparisons are available for those standards
listed in the Revision History that contain a radio button. A
redline comparison of the current version against a revision is
accomplished by selecting the radio button next to the standard and
then selecting 'compare'. At this time, Redline versions only exist
for some AMS standards. SAE will continue to add redline versioning
with ongoing updates to SAE MOBILUS.
