Scope
To establish design recommendations that will provide a basis for safe and reliable connections to threaded screw- or stud-type electrical equipment terminations. These recommendations are directed primarily, but not solely, to the aerospace and ground support equipment industries.
Since individual design criteria may alter the details as outlined, it is therefore important that this Aerospace Information Report (AIR) not be considered mandatory, but be used only as a design guide.
Rationale
AIR38B has been reaffirmed to comply with the SAE five-year review policy.

SAE Committee AE-8C2, Terminating Devices and Tooling, shall be associated with those activities directed by the parent SAE Aerospace Council the SAE Aerospace Electronics and Electrical System Group, within SAE AE-8 Aerospace Electrical/Electronic Distribution Systems, for the development and application of electrical, or optical fiber, connector and associated hardware standards and specifications.
