Opportunities and Challenges in the Next Century of Flight
Published September 08, 1998 by Institution of Mechanical Engineers in United Kingdom
The next century of flight presents significant opportunities and challenges for improving flight operations, efficiency and safety through developments in aviation electronics. These challenges require new levels of thinking that build on insight into the man-machine interface dynamics inherent to flying. They also involve making the global transition from a system of airspace control grounded in procedure to a system of airspace management grounded in the technological capability of electronically gathering, analyzing and acting upon real-time information.
