Development of Puncture Resistance Tire Tube

A new tire tube with a puncture resistance function was developed. The tube is a two-chamber structure having an air chamber and a liquid chamber, and the liquid chamber at the crown-side half of the tube is filled with an anti-puncture sealant during a manufacturing process. In a market test, it was confirmed that the number of puncture cases were reduced by 90% in comparison with conventional tire tubes by using the newly developed tube.
This paper describes the structure of the tube and the characteristics of the tube rubber, and the manufacturing process and durability of the tube.
