A Fixed Point Process-From Specification to Code
Published September 25, 1997 by Institution of Mechanical Engineers in United Kingdom
Embedded systems are increasingly found in the automotive industry and they profoundly affect our everyday life. They are employed in all parts of a modern automobile, from the in-car entertainment systems through to the brakes, suspension and powertrain. This paper looks at a development environment for such embedded systems, MATRIXx. In particular, it describes the application of the MATRIXx to fixed point code generation, a particular problem of embedded systems. To illustrate the use of the software, examples of its use in powertrain systems, an area in which MATRIXx has been successfully employed in the last ten years, are given.
