Abstract
The basic components of the CVT Systems Reimers are: fixed and
moveable sheaves on the input and outputs pulleys, a highly
sophisticated low-noise chain with special geometry for low
clamping forces. A fail-safe nonelectronical clamping system
(hydraulic torque sensor) together with the possibility of
mechanical or electronical ratio-control systems give a wide view
of new applications. While CVTs in stationary industrial
applications suffer from heavy competition coming from AC or DC
technology, mobile applications or simple "applications away
from electric networks" offer a new vision for mechanical
CVTs.
The efficiency of a CVT will always be a principal milestone for
the evaluation of its performance. The efficiency depends mainly on
the clamping forces. So the selection of the CVT oil and the
optimization of the clamping system is a relevant question of CVT
design. A test method for the determination of the required
clamping forces was developed, and possibilities for the
realization of clamping systems were shown.
