Development in Automobile Electronics-Foreseeable Trends and Consequences for Vehicle Manufacturer and System Supplier
Published September 25, 1997 by Institution of Mechanical Engineers in United Kingdom
Increased customer demand for modern vehicles means the vehicle manufacturer must integrate new, more complex electronics functions. Therefore, an increasing number of systems in the vehicle are electronically controlled, and the complexity of existing systems increases out of all proportion. Electronics is beginning to determine functions and value, and has, therefore, become a considerable factor with regard to competitiveness.
This presentation aims to highlight these tendencies, based on the example of the ECU in the ZF automatic transmission, as well as the interaction between this and other ECUs in the vehicle.
