Study on Control of Ignition for Fuel Jet

In order to control of combustion in a direct injection engine under all conditions, forced ignition is an effective method. We constructed the one dimensional spark ignition model for liquid fuel spray. This analysis shows that higher fuel evaporative ratio and lower local gas velocity at the ignition region leads to decrease spark ignition energy for flame propagation.
And, in order to examine the effect of forced ignition for liquid fuel jet, we applied the plasma jet ignition system for high speed fuel jet. The experimental results show that the ignition delay is decrease and the ignition position came near fuel nozzle due to the effect of forced ignition.
