Abstract
In order to enhance the ignitability of a pilot flame, a subchamber ignition system was examined in a model combustion chamber of a direct-injection stratified-charge rotary engine. The behavior of the pilot flame generated in the subchamber is observed by high-speed photography. The analysis of the pressure data and the rate of heat release showed that the generation of the pilot flame is improved.
