Abstract
A VHM architecture framework and set of design guidelines were developed to aid the system designer in incorporating health management early in the design cycle. This study is a first step toward a full architecture analysis capability and set of design guidelines. System behavior and VHM function relationships were described in terms of monitoring, analysis and response loops. A generic architecture was developed relating top level VHM system elements. VHM technologies were identified and an initial summary of basic guidelines and specifications documented. A comparison of driving requirements for different applications was made.
