Developing a Torque Converter Plastic Stator with a Molded-In Outer Race

Abstract
Regarding the sprag type stator which is in a torque converter used in the automatic transmission of automobiles, the authors succeeded in substituting plastic material for the aluminum material by molding the stator inserting outer race into the plastic material. By this change, both weight and cost were reduced without losing durability.
