Study on Optimization of Vehicle Lateral Dynamic Performance

Based on establishing a 34th order mathematical model of vehicle lateral dynamics that can be used to simulate shimmy phenomenon and handling performance. Optimization of vehicle lateral dynamic performance was studied. Optimum design was made by using a method of orthogonal design, taking minimum swivel angle of right front wheel as objective function and taking that the evaluating mark of steady-state cornering performance does not decrease as principal restraint condition. A satisfying optimum result was achieved. The digital simulation results of the mathematical model were proved by road test results.
