Abstract
The DC to AC electronic power inverter has become a reliable and convenient means to provide mobile AC power. The high surge power requirements to start motors and power tools are met by the combination of the storage battery together with the power MOSFET transistor used within the inverter to perform the switching. This device has several attractive features including a pulsed current rating many times the continuous rating. The storage battery state-of- charge can be maintained several ways including the engine driven alternator, a DC generator set and “shore power”, that is, a cord connected, grid powered, battery charger.
