The Allison B 400R Transmission for Transit Buses

Abstract
The mid-sized transmission, B 400R model, will be discussed in this paper. This model has undergone an extensive design and development program which concentrated on providing a highly reliable and customer accepted transmission system. Much of the development effort went into the areas of driver and passenger comfort and acceptance of the transmission shift quality and retarder operation as well as basic product reliability. This new product represents the latest technology in integration of electronics in the automatic transmission and vehicle system to provide the highest customer satisfaction and value.
