Abstract
For a body-on-frame vehicle, body mounts play a key role in a crash event. In order for CAE to be able to accurately predict the crash response, body mount dynamic crash characteristics have to be properly assessed and implemented into the model. A new method is proposed here to obtain this information. By manipulating data from an existing vehicle crash test, and enforcing equilibrium condition of the occupant compartment, the body mount dynamic crash characteristic can be calculated. The result shows good agreement with a drop tower test.
