Abstract
The friction characteristics of Limited Slip Differential gear oils were studied in respect of friction coefficient which is required to maintain safety and steady torque distribution in LSD system. Used oils sampled from practical LSD unit and glass-ware aged test (ISOT) were examined to assess the friction characteristics and durability of friction modifiers. Results obtained in LFW-1 friction tests and NMR analysis of oils containing friction modifiers are discussed.
