Abstract
A new lightweight sandwich sheet material has been developed for application in horizontal automotive body parts. The sandwich consists of two aluminum skins with a thermoplastic core in between. Thanks to this geometry and choice of material the lightest weight per square meter can be achieved when flexural rigidity is the design criterion.
