Abstract
Effects of gasoline and oil quality on intake-valve deposit (IVD) were investigated using IVD test bench. It was confirmed that gasoline with superior detergent significantly decreases the amount of deposit mass. Addition of MTBE or ethanol into gasoline with no detergent slightly increases the amount of deposit mass. Deterioration degree of oil in an engine and with sludge simulator has good correlation with the deposit formation mass with the IVD test bench.
