Abstract
The authors describe a simulation program to calculate the
steady state operation of an automotive air conditioning system.
The thermodynamic modeling takes into account the special
conditions involved with an automotive environment, especially the
influence of the oil supply on the heat exchanger capacity, which
is critical in systems without oil separators.
The simulation model allows rapid, cost effective layout and
performance predictions for air conditioning systems in the early
phases of vehicle design, and allows basic research on a variety of
alternative system concepts.
