Special Application of Operational Deflection Analysis and Modal Analysis for Solving Ride Comfort Problems of Commercial Vehicles

Abstract
Vibration problems can be exactly determined by using modern measurement and analysis methods and test rig techniques. The paper deals with the concrete application in two examples of the operational deflection analysis and the modal analysis. The subjective rating of test engineers for simulation of the phenomenon on the test rig accelerates the procedure. The comprehension of the vibration problem with the aid of a suitable animation software on the screen supports in an important way the right strategy for solving the problem. Furthermore a quick verification of a multi-body simulation model is possible with the results of the modal analysis. So, the possibilities for solving the problem can be evaluated in advance by means of computer simulations which leads to the successful final design modification of the vehicle.
