The most significant cause of failure when introducing simultaneous engineering is to attempt to do it without integrating the simultaneous activities of all functions with a strong program and project management organization. This will be a problem for a number of companies, since they may not have such functions but are keen to introduce and obtain the benefits from simultaneous engineering.
The aims of this paper are to show the need for simultaneous engineering and the benefits to be gained and how the chances for it's successful introduction will be greatly improved when combined with a program and project management organization
