Assessing a Product's Safety: A Product Litigation and Safety Team's Approach

Abstract
This paper describes an approach used by a product litigation and safety team when assessing a product's level of safety. It explores the term “Risk” and its application to the safety assessment of products. It also suggests methods of incorporating societal considerations in scaling injury severity when allocating resources to product safety activities.
