Development of Radiotracer Techniques for Diesel Fuel and Exhaust Emission Research
Published January 30, 1991 by Institution of Mechanical Engineers in United Kingdom
A method for introducing a radiotracer to a single cylinder of a multi- cylinder diesel engine is discussed. The design took into account the constraints on altering any of the high pressure lines between the injector pump and injectors to ensure that the combustion in the sampled cylinder was representative of the engine as a whole. In the analysis of diesel exhaust samples, a normal-phase high performance liquid chromatographic technique is reported that improved the isolation and concentration of radio-products in the exhaust. Ultimately this should facilitate identification.
