Abstract
A product has been developed which uses the application of RIM urethane to one side of automotive glass. This is accomplished by the use of silane coupling agents which form a chemical bond between the glass and urethane.
An analysis of bond stability and durability was performed. Long term environmental tests were completed along with shear tests and a Finite Element Analysis to measure the bond strength between glass and urethane. This process will allow the manufacture of automotive window modules which can be assembled easily in a vehicle and be perfectly flush to the exterior sheet metal.
