Abstract
A combustion model for Spark Ignition engine based on the concept of accounting for the flame area per unit volume is formulated. This concept is applicable when the local laminar flame thickness is small compared to the size of the turbulent eddies, i.e., in the wrinkled laminar flame regime. Applying the model to the three dimensional computer simulation of SI engine combustion has demonstrated that the model is inherently computationally efficient and useful insight of the combustion process could be gained from such a simulation.
