Development of Automatic Control System and Diagnostic System for a Mini-Tunnel

Event: JSAE Autumn Conference
A report on the mini-tunnel of twin-orifice type has already been presented at the JSAE for 1990. This paper describes the development some new devices to enable using the mini-tunnel in engine development. These devices include an automatic exchange orifice able to be set in a short time regardless of engine capacity, and an open to atmospheric pressure device which maintains the split ratio constant.
In particular, to maintain the measuring accuracy of particulate emission, a pre-alarm diagnostic system is used with which the signals from many kinds of sensors installed in the mini-tunnel system are calculated with a computer.
